 for the Third church, Columbus, Ohio.
    Much discussion was raised concerning the money for
 the special fund for the seminary.  It was decided to con-
 tinue the work. The Conference treasurer reported $453.84
 for the Columbus district; Cincinnati district, $400.88; for
 Y. P. D., $403.60, far over the top of any year.  Mrs. Eliza
 Johns, superintendent of the Young People's Department,
 made a splendid report.  Mrs. Johns is a very active, wide
 awake and enthusiastic worker among the young people.
 Her report went over the top of any previous year.  Only
 two  societies, namely Mt. Vernon and Allen Temple,
 organized the Y. P. department as requested last year.  She
 urged all presidents to see that a Young People's Depart-
 ment be organized. Special music throughout the evening
 was conducted by Mrs. Eliza Johns.  A special missionary
 song, composed by Miss Emma  Johnston  of the West
 Virginia Conference Branch, was beautifully sung by Mrs.
 Eliza Johns and Miss Ara Warren.  On motion the song
 was adopted as our convention song.  Six members from
 the choir of Mt. Vernon Avenue church sang "Dear Land of
 Freedom,"  taken from the Sextette from Lucia.    The
 quartet of same church sang "Oh Mary Don't You Weep," a
negro spiritual. Dean Woodson, dean of Payne Theological
 Seminary, was presented and he introduced Dr. J. A. Gregg,
 the newly elected president of Wilberforce University, to
 the convention. He asked the prayers of the convention
that he might be able to do the work assigned him at that
institution.  He addressed the convention on the subject of
missions.  He said in part that he had since a boy desired
to be a preacher and go to Africa. He told how pleased he
was when the call came through Bishop Coppin.  He told
many interesting facts concerning the natives.  During the
course of his lecture he sang "Am I a Soldier of the Cross,"
"Guide Me, Oh, Thou Great Jehovah" in African dialect.
Afterward we all sang in English.  He closed his wonderful
address with a tribute to the unconquered Basuto land.
Pledges amounting to $145.00 were taken.
   Dr. Julian Caldwell was introduced to the convention.
The President requested all District Superintendents to
meet at 9:00 a. m. The offering was taken, amounting to
$5.41. Doxology and benediction by Rev. James Maxwell.

               Saturday Morning, July 17
   The devotional exercises were conducted by Mrs. Allie
Smith and Mrs. Mattie J. Fields. The fifth chapter of
Matthew was read as a scripture lesson.   Many prayers
were offered for the good of the work.  Singing, "Tis So
Sweet to Trust in Jesus," "Fill Me Now," "Have Thine Own
Way," Many testimonials were heard. The business of the
