The Afro-American was owned and published by the Afro-American Publishing Company in Cincinnati, Ohio. It was established in 1882, with funds supplied by the Democratic Party and was politically oriented. From the few extant issues it appears to have endorsed the county Democratic ticket. It followed a common practice of the time, that of copying items from other papers.
