fines be reduced to 25 cents for the lower 

grade and fifty for the higher A res-

olution was then made and adopted that any 

member not appearing within fifteen minutes 

of time be subject to a fine of twenty five 

cents.  After which the meeting adjourned to 

meet Monday 14th Sept.



       Monday Sep. 14th 1857

Meeting of Union Ass. Pres. in the chair 

House called to order when owing to the absence 

of the Chaplain Rev. Whitfield Early was requested 

to address the throne of Grace.  The Roll was then 

called when all the members answered to their 

names except three, two of whom came in 

subsequently.  The minutes of the last meeting 

were read and approved.  By request the 

By-Laws were read for the benefit of those 

who were not present at the time of their 

adoption.  It was on motion of Mr. H. Fox resolved 

that the fine in cases of whispering & laughing 

be reduced from 25 to 11 cts.  On motion it 

was resolved that all brethren be requested 

to abstane from the use of tobacco during 

the hours of meeting.  An enquiry being 

instituted concerning ballot box, one was 

presented to the Society by Mr. H. Fox Esq 

General business being in order the subject 

of Sabbath violation was discussed at length 

most of the members expressing their views of 

the matter.  A committee consisting of 

Wm. R Casey. T.Peoples, H. Fox were appointed 

to draft By Laws which shall prescribe the 

method of preforming charges against members 

said committee to report at next meeting
