    Resolved, That holdin property

in man under any pretext whatever is a

henious sin

    Adjourned to meet in Ripley

on the 25 December next

  
             Ripley December 25th 1835

     The Anti-Slavery Society of Ripley

met according to adjornment

              Opened with prayer

     The following was introduced

by Rev James Gilliland and after

discussion was unanimously adopted

    Resolved, That to educate

slaves and prepare them for freedom

while in a state of slavery is impractable

and a dangerous expedient if it were

practible

  The Society then proceeded to the election
