  April 12th 1837

  The Ripley A.S.S. met at Red oak Church 

  at the call of the President

		Opened with prayer

  Rev. John Rankin apointed Secretary protem

       John Rank & John Shepherd were 

   appointed deligates to the state anaversary

  & James Gilliland Jun. alternate to either 

  that may fail

   John Rankin & John Shepherd were also 

  appointed a committee to obtain pledes of in-

  dividuals & were autherised to pledg to the State 

  Society whatever sum was thus subscribed

  Ordered theat the expences of s deligates 

  be paid by the society

    Resolved That we will continue to petition 

  congress for the abolition of slavery in the dis-

  trict of Columbia & the teritories untill we ob-

  tain the object of our petitions

   The President & Secretary were appointed a com-

  mittee to answer a letter from the Executive
