the faithful pastor. I trust some good was done by the visit and the ad-
dress. On Monday night, July 18th, an Allen Christian Endeavor League
was organized with 28 members.
Memphis, Tenn.--On Saturday, July 23d, I arrived in this great city,
known as the Bluff City. On Sunday morning, July 24th, I addressed
Providence A. M. E. Sunday School, Mr. H. C. Ellison, Supt. Rev. L. J.
Johnson who was transferred from the Illinois Conference to the West
Tennessee Conference is the pastor, and is having success. At 7:00 p. m.
I addressed the Allen Christian Endeavor League at Avery A. M. E. church.
The announcement of this meeting was made by Rev. C. H. Shelto, D. D.,
Presiding Elder of Memphis District, who was acting pastor and at the
same time kept up his work as P. E. God is blessing his labor of love for
his church. Rev. J. A. Lindsay is now pastor of Avery. I wish for him
abundant success. At 8:00 p. m., according to announcement a beauti-
ful audience met me in St. Andrew, Rev. M. T. Cooper, D. D., the untiring
pastor. May the good Lord ever bless him, his good wife and members,
who see to it that the field workers of the church in passing through Memphis
are cared for most royally. On Monday night a great rally concert for
Turner Normal by the Sunday School under the management of that noble
woman, Miss P. V. Reed, was a great success. On Thursday, July 28th, I
attended the Sunday School Convention of the South Memphis District,
Rev. J. W. Pickett, M. D., presided. The Convention convened in Tyler
Chapel of which Rev. R. B. Vann is the faithful and successful pastor. My
brief stay was pleasant and profitable. On Friday, July 29, I arrived at
Munford, Tenn., the seat of the Sunday School Convention of the Memphis
District, Rev. C. H. Shelto, D. D., presided. Valuable papers were read
and discussed on subjects of vital importance to the Sunday School. At
the kind invitation of both presiding elders, I addressed the Memphis and
South Memphis Sunday School and Allen Christian Endeavor League
Convention. On Sunday, July 31, I visited and addressed audiences in the
following missions: Allen Chapel, Rev. R. B. Adams, pastor; Wayman
Chapel, Rev. J. S. States; Mt. Zion, Rev. Wm. Oliver, pastor. At Allen
Chapel I organized the Allen Christian Endeavor League with 26 members
and at Mt. Zion with 16 members. I truly hope these Leagues may be in-
strumental in saving many precious souls for Christ. On Friday night, Aug.
5th, an interesting audience greeted me in St. James A. M. E. church, Rev.
Jas. S. Johnson, the very faithful pastor. I was pleased to meet the members
of the League. Comfortable pews have been purchased for St. James,
much credit will be due the Leaguers when they shall have paid the last
dollar for them. The Review was duly represented. Mr. B. J. Jefferies one
of the oldest members of Avery was the first to subscribe. Each number
of the Review is worth its weight in gold.
Greensburg, La.--En route to this beautiful village, the home of my only
uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Moses Sheridan, I was delighted to address
