the people of McComb, Miss., and Tangipahoa, La., and at each place to
organize Allen Christian Endeavor Leagues., with 18 members. At Mc-
Comb, Miss., Rev. I. Mills, the faithful pastor is building a beautiful Bethel,
lighted with electricity. Mrs. R. H. L. Smith is president of the League.
At Tangipahoa, La., Rev. J. S. Coffee is the pastor of real worth to any
community. He is now building a neat parsonage and is raising money to
paint both exterior and interior of Quinn Chapel. On Friday, Aug. 12, ac-
companied by my aunt, Mrs. D. C. Sheridan I visited the District Confer-
ence Sunday School and Allen Christian Endeavor League Convention of
the Central New Orleans District, Rev. G. B. Hill, D. D., presided. Our
pretty little church, Grant Chapel was remodeled and a coat of white paint,
trimmed with green was pleasant to behold. The faithful pastor, Rev. S. T.
Houston and his good people deserve much credit for the entertainment of
this great gathering, for it was equal to an Annual Conference. The in-
terior of the church was draped in mourning for the lamented Bishop E. W.
Lampton, Dr. H. T. Johnson and Rev. Thomas Pye. The Chairman of the
Committee, Dr. A. M. Green, read resolutions on the death of the departed,
which were adopted by the District Conference and the entire congregation.
My visit was quite a surprise. I was delighted in seeing the dear ones again
and especially my pastor, Dr. J. W. Washington, who is laboring hard to
pay off the entire indebtedness of dear old St. James. The Review was well
represented and subscriptions secured. On Sunday, Aug. 14th at 12 noon
a very large and enthusiastic audience greeted me in Turner Chapel of
which Rev. A. T. Haywood is the broad, self-sacrificing pastor, the young
people's friend. My aim was to benefit this great audience. I trust some
good was done. For many miles on the Tickfaw river will be found hundreds
of African Methodists. On either side of this river and of Joseph Stream
thousands of boys and girls are holding up the banner of Allen. At 6 p. m,
the young men and women, boys and girls met me at Sheridan Chapel; at
the close of the address, an Allen Christian Endeavor League was organized
with 26 members. May God help them to be faithful. Mr. C. E. Carter,
the corresponding secretary is a regular subscriber for the Review and can do
much in making the League a success. Mr. Jacob Harte, the president is
an earnest Christian worker.
Nashville, Tenn.-En route to this city, Monday night, Aug. 15 was very
pleasantly spent in Grenada, Miss., at the home of Rev. and Mrs. J. S.
Butler and family, their two sons and their sweet little daughter, Jetta are
ornaments to this home. A most excellent supper was prepared by Mrs.
Butler. At 8:30 p. m. a beautiful audience greeted me in Powell Chapel,
Rev. Butler, pastor. Rev. J. A. Henderson and Rev. and Mrs. Wimbush
graced the audience with their words of encouragement and contribution.
On Tuesday night, Aug. 16th at 9 o'clock I arrived in Nashville and was
met by Misses Goldie and Frances Kealing. In a short while we were at
home where I received a warm welcome from Prof. and Mrs. Kealing. I
need not say my stay was pleasant, I am made to understand that I am a
