Mansfield, La.--En route to this town, I visited and addressed audiences
in Vicksburg, Miss., and Shreveport, La. On Thursday night, December
8th, an appreciative audience greeted me in Bethel church, Rev. J. J. Mor-
ant, pastor.
On Friday night, December 9th, the Leaguers with Mr. Jones as president,
tendered the General Field Secretary, (the writer) a unique reception. An
excellent program consisting of music, vocal and instrumental; recitations
and addresses were inspiring. The floral decoration sent by a leaguer was
beautiful to the eye and attracted much attention. My kind hostess, Mrs.
Morant, is a queen in her home. To know her is to love her. Three beauti-
ful children grace this home. Masters John and Richard and dear little
Christa. On Sunday, December 11th I stood before four audiences in St.
Matthew A. M. E. church, Shreveport, La.; Rev. Prince A. King is the very
faithful and successful pastor. I found quite an improvement in and around
the church and parsonage. An increase in both Sunday School and church
membership. Dr. and Mrs. King spared no pains in making my stay
pleasant and profitable. This is custom with them. On Monday, Decem-
ber 12th, according to promise made December 1909 to speak for Rev. J. W.
Brewer, our pastor at Mansfield, La., an appreciative audience greeted
me in St. James church on Monday night December 12th. Rev. J. A.
Gibson, P. E., of the Delhi District, presided. I was delighted to meet the
young men and women who assembled to learn of the Allen Christian En-
deavor League. In a plain practical way, I endeavored to make my speech
clear to all, which resulted in the organization of the League with 29 mem-
bers on Tuesday night, December 13. May God bless the League and may
each Leaguer brighten the life of some fellow creature. On Wednesday
morning, December 14th at 10 o'clock, Bishop H. M. Turner convened the
19th session of the North Louisiana Conference in beautiful St. James
church, Rev. J. W. Brewer, the untiring and ever faithful pastor, who
with his dear wife, members and friends deserve special mention for another
"up-to-date" St. James which will grace any city. The Conference was well
attended. The General Departments looked after. The Review received
a liberal support.
New Orleans, La.--On Monday night, December 19th at 8:30 I arrived
in the Crescent City, where I received as usual a very warm welcome at the
home of my pastor and family, Dr. and Mrs. J. W. Washington, the son
Leonard, the accomplished photographer, and the daughter Nannie, skilled
in music. The holidays were very pleasantly spent; on Saturday night,
December 24th, St. James Sunday School had their Christmas tree which
was heavily ladened with precious gifts for each child.
And yet in the Christmas address the children were impressed that the
greatest gift of all, is our blessed Saviour, whose birth we celebrate. Christ-
mas morning, Sunday, December 25, at 4 o'clock the Incarnation Sermon
was preached by Dr. J. W. Washington, the loving, faithful and successful
pastor of St. James church. Text: St. Luke 2:15, "And it came to pass,
