The local society of St. Paul presented to the pastor's
wife, Mrs. Dovie Clark, a graduating gift. She responded
with remarks.
Interesting facts concerning the convention. Mrs. Jobe
Johnstone, first president of local society. Mrs. Maria
Carson is in possession of first badge. Mrs. C. D. White,
the first minutes.
While the offering was being taken the choir sweetly
sang, "The Earth Is the Lord's." Mrs. Morman, president
of the Republican League of Columbus, was introduced to
the convention. Collection, $7.08.
"Praise God From Whom All Blessings Flow" was sung
as closing song after which benediction was given by
Rev. E. A. Clark. The delegates were invited to the lecture
room, and amid sweet flowers beautifully decorated on walls
and table and the sweet strains of music, we were tendered
a reception. All departed at a late hour, extending the
praises to the good women of St. Paul's Mite Missionary
Society.
Friday Morning, July 16
The devotional exercises were conducted by Madam
Smith, of Xenia, and Mrs. Broadice, of Cincinnati. Singing,
"Higher Ground." Scripture reading, Luke 17th chapter.
Singing, "A Charge to Keep I Have." Prayer by Mrs. Eliza
Johns. The meeting was opened for all and many took part,
testifying to the saving power of Jesus' blood. The meet-
ing closed with an old fashioned hand shaking. A commit-
tee composed of Mrs. Julia Reid and Mrs. Anna Tibbs,
taking with them Grace Woodson and Elizabeth Bowen to
visit the Daily Vacation Bible School convening in Mt.
Vernon A. M. E. church.
