Headquarters
9th Regt. La. Vols. A.D.
Millikens Bend La.
April 28th 1863

Dear Wife:

I have not written you for several days on account of a
disengagement(?) in our postal arrangement but now all is right
and you will direct as follows:

"Jacob Brunnen Millikins Bend La.
1st Lieut 9th Regt. La. Vols
A.D."

A.D. Means African Descent.

I am happy my dear wife to inform you that I am enjoying
excellent health. The 68th left here on the 26th and I heard it
had crossed the Miss. River below Vicksburgh.
