Letter from Charles Edward Russell to Miss Atwood

               The Log House
               Holland, Michigan
               R. R. 4
               October 24, 1931.

My dear Miss Atwood:

Thank you for your pleasant letter of
October 21. I am glad to know that you sympathize
so heartily with the project to issue a life of
Colonel Young.
I should be glad indeed to visit Mrs.
Young and will surely do so as soon as the
negotiations are completed concerning he required
guarantee. I hope you understand that the demand
for this guarantee has nothing to do with me but
emanates from the publishers. It will be a
pleasure and a privilege for me to write the
book if the publisher can be placated.
I cannot well stop off at Xenia on this
journey as I must go by the Baltimore & Ohio,
