   THE subjoined Report was made by the Corresponding Secretary of the
Western Freedmen's Aid Commission to a delegated Convention held in
Indianapolis, Indiana, July 19 and 20, 1864, at which the following So-
cieties of the West laboring in behalf of the National Freedmen were
represented, namely: Western Sanitary Commission, St. Louis; Western
Freedmen's Aid Commission, Cincinnati; Contraband Relief Commission,
Cincinnati; Cleveland Freedmen's Aid Commission, Cleveland; Indiana
Freedmen's Aid Commission, Indianapolis; Friends' Aid Committee, Rich-
mond, Indiana; North-Western Freedmen's Aid Commission, Chicago. It
was first published by order of the Convention with the minutes and
